Jewelry Project
Our jewelry project is a social impact business, which exists to financially supplement other Pauline Juliet projects (that directly benefit the women involved in this project). The jewelry consists of paper beads, a type of bead made out of recycled materials. Each bead is handmade by a volunteer from our women’s association, PJWEA. After the beads are created, they are varnished and then chosen to fit unique necklace, bracelet, and earring designs imagined by the women. The creation and design of each piece of jewelry is by PJWEA individuals, and the materials are all purchased from local Ugandan businesses. The goal of this project is to sell the jewelry and make money to support PJ projects, working towards overall sustainability throughout the organization. Additionally, this project serves to train women in jewelry making, project leadership, and business. All jewelry consultants are local Ugandans and we wish to train other groups in this craft as well. So far, we have taught this skill to PJWEA members and girls in the community, but we would also like to partner with local groups to teach even more people. Pauline Juliet believes in partnership with the community and local organizations not in competition.
